what to do First
Welcome to "The Towers" - A D&D 5e Campaign
Campaign Overview
Setting: In the land of Aurora, a world veiled in mystery and untold secrets, an extraordinary event has unfolded. For ages, towering structures, ancient and enigmatic, lay dormant, shrouded in impenetrable magical barriers, their purpose obscured by time's veil. Yet, in a sudden twist of fate, these towering monoliths have stirred from their slumber, their gates unlocking to reveal untold wonders and dangers alike. Some among you have been plagued by vivid dreams, haunting visions, and an unshakable intuition, drawing you inexorably towards these towering enigmas. Others have been spurred into action by whispers from secretive circles and mysterious figures, their cryptic messages pointing towards the towers as a focal point for destiny's weave. What mysteries lie within these newly opened towers? What secrets do they guard, and what perils await those who dare to venture forth into the unknown? Only time will tell as brave souls embark on a journey into the heart of the unknown, driven by curiosity, ambition, and the promise of untold riches and glory.
Your Role
As a player, you will create a character that you find interesting and that would have a reason to explore and work with teams. You will explore these Towers, face various challenges, and uncover the mysteries behind their existence.
What we Play on
Roll 20 will be a thing In the future
Character Creation Guidelines
Racial Types
Open to all. except Changling - too OP
I would like a reason why you would like to play that race though, otherwise you are just playing a human "Frank" that gets an extra ablitiy.
if that is really the reason we can work it out
Ability points:
Point Buy
Class Selection:
Choose one D&D 5e class. NO multi-classing yet.
When we do open it up to multi-classing there needs to be a reason why your *Rouge now has a class in Cleric*
Starting Level:
Your level will be 1 to start out but will quikly advance.
kind of have an idea on where you would like to go with your character
Goals:
I would like it if your characters had goals. one long term and two short term.
one short term could even be just wanting to see the towers.
Equipment:
Basic gear based on your class and level upon entering a Tower.
You might also have everyday items of practical use in dungeon scenarios.
Backgrounds and Backstories:
Just remember, we’re starting off as level one for character growth so no I’ve defeated armies. You’re basically adjust a little bit better than ordinary people. If you want defeat armies, we can work that into your story later.
not every Adventurer has to be a sad story *my town got wiped out!* or *quest for vengence* while those are good for some games; here lets look at reasons why your character would have gone to explore the towers!
World Mechanics
Tower Exploration:
Dungeons vary in difficulty and reset with new layouts and challenges.
Dungeon as a Job:
Clearing Towers cab be a professional occupation.
A Calling:
some have been plagued by vivid dreams, haunting visions, and an unshakable intuition, drawing you to the towers
Shops:
I would like for the shopping to be kept to a minimum.(unless it is for character development or role play). Just shopping to get what you need or more supplies can take up a lot of time, since we are doing a short campaign i would like to focus on playing.
if you character needs something just tell me what it is and we can work with it.
Death
Death - this is a thing.. you can die in the raids.. there are no death saves you can only revive with the help of an actual healer in 2 turns.
no potions no goodberries
Intititve
there are none really! we are going to go as a team and hopefully get it going faster!
Campaign Dynamics
Dungeon Exploration: Focused on tactical combat, very little puzzle-solving, and exploration.
Role play and Story: Engage with the narrative, uncovering the lore of the Towers and navigating the societal changes they've brought to the town and the area and seeing what that does as a personal growth
I would like for most comunication to be done in character. if tyou are asking another person a quistion you can do it in character - Voices are not needed :)
if you have a question that is out of character just message the DM of put your hand on your head as you talk so we know that is you talking not your character. yes it looks silly. that is the point.
Guideline Rules as Writen: as much as i love to play the rule of cool and make sure we have fun, remember this is a shared story with a group. We are all taking time out of our busy lives to have fun and play. So if a machanic or a rule is bent out of preportion we will have to talk about it, and figure out a way to get your goal without distracting from the overall group.
ill give out boons, or modifications during the game. I once gave a player's soup that he gave out inspriation since he was always offing it to people... things like this happen organicaly, not forced
